If you just purchased an RV, you will need a place to store it. This is especially true if there are certain times of the year where you will not be using the RV. You do have the choice of storing the RV at your home or using a storage facility instead. If you are having a difficult time deciding on how you want to store it, below is some information about storing it at home, as well as using a storage facility.

Store your RV at Home

Before you decide to store your RV at home, determine if you have enough room to store it long term. If you do not, then your RV will be sitting in plain view for the entire time you are not using it. You may not want this, as it can take away from the aesthetics of your yard.

If you have a large backyard, and a large driveway, this may be an option for you. You should consider extending the driveway, however. You could also hire a contractor to lay a concrete slab. This is important as you do not want to leave something heavy like an RV sitting directly on the ground.

You could also store the RV in your garage if it is large enough. If it is not and your garage is old, you may want to consider rebuilding a new one and making it much larger.

Store your RV at an RV Storage Facility

Storing your RV at a storage facility is a good option. This way you will not have to worry about having enough room at home. You also will not need to worry about someone breaking into your RV or any type of vandalism.

When looking for storage facilities, determine if you want to have the RV outside or inside. Some storage facilities have a separate parking lot for RVs, or they may have a parking lot that has a cover to provide protection from the weather.

Storage facilities will also have garages that are large enough for RVs. If you want your RV completely protected, a lock will be placed on the door. In most cases, you will have electronic code entry. Also, the storage facility may have security alarms set up in each individual area. The facility's fences should be locked when they are not open, and they should have security cameras set up.

Talk with a few RV storage facilities companies in your area to learn what they can offer you.
