If you are planning on changing offices, there is a good chance that you will want to make sure that the things that you liked in your old office come to your new one. Many people have plants in their office that they like. These plants make them feel more connected to nature. Some of these plants can be too large for them to move on their own. If you are in this situation, where you need to change offices and want to bring your large plant or plants with you, you will need to take steps to prepare your plant so that the professional movers are able to move it for you. Here are some tips.

1. Water Heavily if Your Plant Will Be in Storage

The first thing that you want to do is find out whether or not the plant is going to be in storage for a given length of time. If not, then you can just water your plant normally. If so, then you will need to make sure that you add enough water the day of the move so that your plant will be able to survive for the length of time that it will be in storage. If the plant is going to be in storage for weeks, then you might want to invest in one of those bulbs that will automatically dispense water as dirt gets dry.

2. Use Newspapers to Defend Against the Cold

The next thing that you will want to do is use newspapers if your plant is going to be outside in weather that is colder than it is easily able to handle. Simply use newspapers to form a shell that is about a quarter of an inch thick around your plant. Use tape to hold these newspapers in place. Consider using a metal stake to act as a point that will hold the newspaper shell up. Attach the shell at the bottom to the pot so that the warmth stays in the shell. If your plant has smaller branches, you can use a sheet as the preliminary layer for the shell to keep them from breaking.

3. Put the Pot in a Box

Finally, put the pot in an open box so that it is reasonably easy to move and protected. In order to keep the pot from moving around too much, put newspaper around the pot in order to provide extra padding.
